Stand by Me

          In the music video Stand by Me, we were able to see the love that every human being has in their heart, being thrown out into the world. The video shows a group of different street musicians from all over the world, singing their hearts out to convey the message that you will always have somebody to stand by you even if you are alone; all you have to do is just reach out for help.

         In the article “What Are the Benefits of Music Therapy” it talks about how music effects our everyday lives without us being able to notice. There are so many health benefits to listening to music and different ways we can use it to influence our lives and the lives around us. In the music video, we can see that everyone is so cheerful and eager to lend a helping hand, which in turn could subconsciously impact society and the way we interact with our neighbors. Using the WOVEN method, we are able to see the different aspects of the music video that we might overlook just watching it. Writing is a very strong way for people to convey a message. For example, in the music video, we can see the names of the artists and the places where they are preforming at, which makes me feel a little more in touch with the video. For the “O” meaning oral, you can hear the different instruments, vocals, along with the noises of the things happening around them. The “visual” aspect of the video shows the different architecture or locations of all of the different locations. We can also see how passionate the musicians are when they open their hearts and sing their lungs out, by them dancing and really feeling the music as if its really something they can grasp a hold of. Another woven element is electronic, which for this video would be the different instruments and how the sound is produced via amplifiers and microphones, as well as us being able to view it virtually through a screen. The nonverbal aspect has a hand to play in this video because of the different physical cues and body language gestures that the artists make.

         Love is truly a magical thing and if you spread love to others, love will come right back to you. The main message of the song Stand by Me brings us to a place where everyone is kind to each other, and is willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who may need it. Many elements in the music video help us put a visual on the song written by Ben E. King. Although it doesn’t need a visual, it just helps to bring the song to life and helps us to see what passion, and the desire to help one another looks like.
