An unexpected figure of college students have been studied and picked apart, that number has a lot of college students concerned and giving the most effort in their classes . That number is one third; less than one third of students who start out in public colleges will graduate in 6 years. The article "Graduation Rates in College Students" talks about the percentage of students who stay around for their sophomore year of school and is stunningly low at 52%. 48% Of freshman actually do not end up graduating because they either left during or after their freshman year. This figure does not account for students who do one year at a public college then transfer to a private college to get their degree. It also doesn't take into account that Chicago State University has been struggling with financial ups and downs and is still recovering from the budget crisis. The author also stated that students who transfer to Chicago State College are more likely to graduate from that school. This is probably because people usually transfer to the college that has your degree program or if it is where you want to graduate from.

Nearly 60% of first time students who take on a full time load, actually end up graduating in a time period of 6 years. I also think that if you come into college with a strong desire to graduate and get your degree, that you will be a lot more successful than your classmates who are not full time students. Students who enroll for the first time and take on a part time school load, more often than not, will not end up graduating within 6 years. This probably due to the fact that if you take on a part time load, which is considered to be 12 credit hours, that you will be set to graduate in a ten year time period. If you transfer somewhere, that makes you less likely to graduate from that school, rather than if you persisted through your original school, it would make you a whole lot more likely to graduate within a five or six year period.
